Body scans, also known as CAT (Computerized Axial Tomography) scans are x-ray slices of different parts of the body that allow us o look at each cross section for abnormalities.

While we know that CAT scans o produce a much higher dose of radiation than conventional x-rays; in the right scenarios they are an invaluable tool for diagnosing certain diseases and helping save lives CAT scans frequently are one with an IV in order to better visualize certain internal body parts.

Individuals with contrast allergies to iodine and shellfish should notify their physician and take the necessary precautions determined by the physician. In addition, no caffeine should be taken on the day of the test. Patients with any degree of kidney impairment may have deterioration of kidney functions. Hence, particular precautions need to be undertaken for these patients.

Who is a candidate for body scans?
